16 INTERESTING SIMILARITIES SHARED BY RCCG AND MFM

16 INTERESTING SIMILARITIES SHARED BY THE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD (RCCG ) AND MOUNTAIN OF FIRE AND MIRACLES MINISTRIES (MFM)

It suddenly hit me during my writing of 'MISSION FROM AFRICA' that the MOUNTAIN OF FIRE AND MIRACLES MINISTRIES (MFM), has a lot of similarities with the THE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD (RCCG ).

#1. Both of them have camps or cities along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway with pavilion type structures for their major events.

#2. Their respective headquarters both spread from and are located within the Yaba metropolis and environs.

#3. They both have the highest number of branches of any church in Lagos.

#4. Both ministries are headed by General Overseers (G.Os) who are both of yoruba descent.

#5. Both G.Os had exceptional academic backgrounds.

#6. Both G.Os were at the University of Lagos at one time or the other.

#7. While MFM has her monthly program on the 1st Saturday of the month, RCCG has hers on the first Friday.

#8. They both translate their Sunday services at the headquarters as well as their monthly services in Yoruba language.

#9. Both churches take Sunday school sessions before Sunday services very seriously.

#10. They both have one university each located within their respective camps and whose names betray their ownership-Redeemers University of Nations and Mountain Top University.

#11. They both have a secondary school each within their camps.

#12. Their church youth programs are both particularly strong.

#13. Their structures do not seem to be built around family; Adeboye isn’t related to the founder while Olukoya’s son is still a baby. By the time he is 20, Olukoya will be about 70 years. Olukoya's wife and other women play seemingly quiet roles in MFM

#14. Their members are allocated land within their camps on which to build personal houses.

#15. Both churches have a very strong followership among Nigerians in the United Kingdom as well as the highest numbers of branches of Nigerian churches there.

#16. They are both constructing the biggest worship structures in the world presently ie the new 3km by 3km Arena with capacity in excess of 2 million capacity in RCCG’s Redemption Camp and the 500,000 capacity Deliverance Stadium in MFM’s Prayer City.
