One of the greatest things my hubby and I did when we dated for four years was, we read a lot! We were so interested in how to have a marriage and family life that glorifies God so we were committed to gathering as much information as necessary to help us in our journey. 13 years later, one of the greatest things we still do is we read! We read to add value to ourselves as individuals and we read to keep improving the quality of our relationship and family life.
We learn from the mistakes of others that we don't want to repeat and we learn from the right steps of others that we want to apply to our own relationship. The power that lies in reading cannot be overemphasised; I believe that if more people picked up books relevant to them, they'll find the answers they need. One of the most common questions that comes to CPYF and to me personally is if we can recommend books or materials that will be of help to individuals concerning the various stages of their lives.
So by the grace of God, we'll be starting the CPYF Book Club๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ I'll be recommending books quarterly relating to family life. But it doesn't stop there; books for personal self development (spirit, soul and body) will also be recommended. As I often say, it's the quality of the individual that determines the quality of the marriage so every recommendation is to first enhance our worth as individuals. Every book that'll be recommended will have been read by me personally! Read it as an individual, as a group of friends, as a couple, as parents; whatever works! Just read and gather the knowledge that you need. Remember that while a house is built by wisdom, while it is established by understanding, it is by knowledge (the gathering of information) that it is filled with rare and precious jewels (Proverbs 24:3-4).
Even in marriage and family life, Readers are Leaders so let's get to reading! You'll be so glad you did! I'm excited๐Ÿ˜† The entrance of the Word of God always brings light (Psalm 119:130) so as we read these Holy Spirit inspired books, may the light we need that's relevant to us break forth!
Blessed weekend!
